1. Know how to show your knowhow

Thu 07.11.2019, 13:15-16:00, PB133, Hervanta Campus.

The focus of the first workshop is on knowing what you have to offer.
In the workshop you will find some of your strengths and good examples of these that can be used later in job application. Self-assessment questions will help you find out what you want, and you will practice a short, personal introduction (pitch), using what you have learned.
The enrollment is closed and the workshop is full.

2. Where are the jobs?

Thu 21.11.2019, 13:15 – 16:00, PB132, Hervanta Campus

The focus of the second workshop is on the job market and how to find the hidden jobs.
We discuss what the job market is like for internationals and then discuss different strategies to find (or create) jobs. You will make a mindmap of your network, a small action plan for networking and job hunting and we will discuss how to use tools like Linkedin to expand your professional network.
The enrollment is closed and the workshop is full.

3. The letter and CV

Wed 04.12.2019, 13:15 – 16:00, PC110, Hervanta Campus.

The focus of the third workshop is on writing a clear and inviting-to-read CV for the Finnish job market, and an interesting motivation letter. We discuss different ways of setting up the CV, the do’s and don’ts, and we discuss examples. Then we discuss what makes a good motivation letter.
Everyone brings their own CV (and possibly letter) and we act as recruiters: reading all the applications in a limited time to experience what stands out. Everyone gets short personal feedback.
The enrollment is closed and the workshop is full.

4. The job interview

Thu 16.01.2020, 13:15 – 16:00, room: t.b.a., Hervanta Campus.

The last workshop is all about the job interview. We discuss all the basics like the procedure and different types of interview, and how interviewing is a skill that can be learned.
We practice how to handle difficult questions using tools such as STAR and reframing.
After a short demonstration everyone gets to practice the interview in simulation rounds.
