What we do: The English Writing Clinic provides writing help in English to undergraduate and graduate students, and staff. In one-on-one 30 minute consultations, Language Centre teachers offer feedback and strategies to help you to develop your strengths and identify your weaknesses as a writer.
The Writing Clinic can help with—
- Structuring academic essays and research papers
- Focusing ideas and connecting thoughts at section, paragraph and sentence level, and strengthening your understanding of grammar, punctuation, and style
- Utilizing the conventions appropriate for different types of texts, including letters and emails, CVs, memos, instructions, applications, reports, proposals, and presentations. proposals, and presentation slides
- Finding self-study material to help you with any weaknesses identified
What we don’t do: Proofread and edit. We help you develop the skills to proofread your own work to improve your own writing. For this reason, all work should be accomplished in the consultation time: teachers will not read work before or after the meeting time.
How to use the Writing Clinic: Consultation times will be available from 15th January 2018 onwards. Schedule a 30 minute session with a Language Centre teacher beginning January 15, 2018 on the Moodle page English Writing Clinic, enrollment key: Writing Clinic
