Library doesn’t slow down completely during the summer, even though the opening hours are shorter than during the semester. Arvo library is closed 17 – 28 July but Linna Library serves you throughout the summer.

Library’s interlibrary services are closed in July, but you can check if the material you need is available through our own e-journal  or e-book services. All the library’s collections can be found in Tamcat, where you can also renew your loans and pay your fines.

Ask the library service and chat are on call during the library’s opening hours through the whole summer. You may also find an answer to your questions in the Guides.

Library closed during Midsummer 23-25 June

All Tampere University Library offices are closed from Midsummer Eve, Friday 23 June to Sunday 25 June. After Midsummer we’ll continue the service according to the same summertime opening hours. Only the service in Library’s newspaper collection will be closed until 7 August.

When the Library is closed, you can return your loans to the book-return bins beside the front doors of Linna and Arvo. Linna’s Silent Reading Room and Arvo’s Learning Center are available 24/7 for the University of Tampere students with the key card.

Summertime opening hours

Arvo library will be closing at 14.00 on 14 June

On Wednesday 14 June Arvo library will be closing already at 14.00. The reason for the earlier closing time is power cut in Arvo building starting at 15.00. The building will be emptied from 14.00.

The power cut lasts 2-3 hours. During the cut it is not allowed to stay in the building and communications networks are a not functioning.

Linna library is open as usual between 8.00 and 16.00.

Ascension Day 24-25 May opening hours at the Library

  • On Wednesday 24 May, Ascension Eve, all library offices will be closing at 4 pm
  • On Thursday 25 May, Ascension Day, the Library is closed
  • On Friday 26 May we’ll serve normally

When the Library is closed, you can return your loans to the book-return bins beside the front doors of Linna and Arvo. Linna’s Silent Reading Room and Arvo’s Learning Center are available 24/7 for University of Tampere students with the key card.

On Monday 29 May the Library will shift to summertime opening hours.

Tampere University Library will shift to summertime opening hours on Monday, 29 May. All library offices are closed on Saturdays and on Midsummer Eve, 23 June. Arvo library will be closed between 17 and 28 July.

Linna library will return to normal opening hours 28 August and Arvo library 14 August.

Easter opening hours at the Library

On Maundy Thursday, 13 April, all Library offices will be closing at 4 p.m. The Library is closed from Good Friday, 14 April, to Monday, 17 April. After Easter we will shift back to normal opening hours.

When the Library is closed, you can return your loans to the book-return bins beside the front doors of Linna and Arvo libraries. Silent Reading Room in Linna and Learning Center in Arvo are open 24/7 for University students with the key card.

Due to customer feedback Arvo library on Kauppi campus will be opened already at 8:00 from 18 April. The customer service opens at 9:00 as before.

All University Library offices are closed on Thursday, 16 March because of Library staff training.

  • When the Library is closed, you can return your loans to the book-return bin beside the front door of Linna (Kalevantie side) and Arvo (Teiskontie side).
  • Linna’s Silent Reading Room and Arvo’s Learning Center with its two group work rooms are available 24/7 for the University students with the key card. (Please note, in Arvo on weekdays between 9 pm and 5:30 am and on weekends you need also a PIN code you can ask from IT Helpdesk in Arvo.)

Christmas and New Year season opening hours at the Library

Tampere University Library will shift to Christmas and New Year season opening hours on Saturday 19 December when Linna library is closed. Arvo library is closed between 23 December and 1 January.We will be back to normal opening hours from 9 January.

Library’s Andor search service is only restrictedly available between 28 and 30 December because of maintenance work. During this time the customers cannot renew their loans, make reservations or pay their library fees. You cannot check the availability information of books but it is likely that you can read e-books. During this break the Library’s self-service machines don’t function. Borrow and return your loans at the Customer Service desk.
