Opening and service hours of the new Tampere University Library

The new Tampere University Library serves from January 2019 in the former premises and mainly with former opening and service hours. Furthermore, Hervanta unit, Linna’s Silent Reading Room and Arvo’s Learning Center are available 24/7, as well as TAMK Main Campus’ and TAMK Mediapolis’ Self Service Library, all with a key card. – Please note, that with your current key card you can access only your “home campus”. On other campuses key cards are available at info desks.

We will shift to the spring term opening and services hours on Monday, 7 January. During the first week of January TAMK Music Academy unit is closed and other library units serve with shorter opening hours.

Opening hours of Tampere University Library at the end of the year 2018

Christmas and New Year season opening hours at Linna and Arvo library

Tampere University Library will shift to Christmas and New Year season opening hours on Saturday 15 December when Linna library is closed. Linna and Arvo library will be closed between 22 December and 1 January 2019.

The new Tampere University Library will start its operations at the beginning of 2019. The Library serves in the current library premises of the University of Tampere, Tampere University of Technology and Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The new Library will shift to the normal opening hours of the semester on Monday, 7 January.

When the Library is closed you can return your loans to the book-return bins beside the front doors of Linna and Arvo buildings. The Silent Reading Room in Linna library and the Learning Center at Arvo library are available 24/7 for University of Tampere students with the key card.

Independence Day opening hours at the Library

On Wednesday, 5 December, University Library offices will be closing at 16.00. On Finland’s Independence Day, 6 December, the Library is closed.

All Saints’ Day opening hours at the Library

On Friday 2 November, All Saints’ Day eve, the Library offices will be closing at 16.00. On Saturday 3 November, All Saints’ Day, the Library is closed.

Linna library and Silent Reading Room closed 20 October

Linna library will be closed exceptionally on Saturday, 20 October. In Linna building there will be maintenance work of electrical equipment and power cut so the building will be closed the whole day.

Also the Silent Reading Room will be closed on Saturday. It is available again on Sunday, 21 October from 6.00.

On the Main campus there are other premises accessible 24/7 in the front part of the Pinni A building. Also the classrooms 1, 7 and 8 in TietoPinni are accessible 24/7.

Autumn semester opening hours in the Library from 27 August

Linna library serves according to autumn semester opening hours from Monday, 27 August. Arvo library shifted to the autumn opening hours two weeks ago. Silent Reading Room in Linna is closed because of renovation until 2 September.

At the beginning of 2019 the current libraries of the University of Tampere, Tampere University of Technology and Tampere University of Applied Sciences will merge into the library of the new Tampere University that will offer library services to the higher education institution formed by UTA, TUT and TAMK. We will inform you about the opening hours of the new library at the end of the semester.

Linna and Arvo libraries in self-service use 15 August

On Wednesday, 15 August, the staff of Tampere University Library and other Tampere3 libraries (TUT, TAMK) will have a training day. On that day the premises of Linna and Arvo libraries are available for the customers during the opening hours but the Customer Service is closed. You can borrow books and return your loans using the self-service machines and pay library fees online. Linna is open 8.00–16.00 and Arvo 8.00–17.00.

Arvo library shifts to autumn semester opening hours 13 August

Arvo library on Kauppi campus shifts to autumn semester opening hours Monday 13 August when new medical students start their work. Arvo library is open from Monday to Thursday between 8.00 and 17.00, customer service from 9.00 to 17. 00, and on Fridays from 8.00 to 16.00, customer service from 9.00 to 16.00.

Linna library on the Main campus will shift to autumn season opening hours 28 August.

Renovation in Linna’s Silent Reading Room begins 25 June

The renovation in Linna library’s Silent Reading Room will begin on Monday, 25 June. During the renovation its premises will be out of customer use. The renovation is planned to be finished by the beginning of September.

The other working premises in Linna are available according to the summertime opening hours and the Learning Center in Arvo library is available 24/7 for the University students with the key card. In Arvo on weekdays between 21.00 and 5.30 and on weekends also a PIN code is needed. Ask it from Arvo building’s IT Helpdesk (E106).

On the Main campus the classrooms 1, 7 and 8 in TietoPinni are accessible 24/7. In addition, floors 3 and 4 in the front part of the Pinni A building are accessible 24/7 with the student card during the summertime renovations.

Silent Reading Room is a popular study space. Now e.g. its electricity systems and surfaces will be renovated. The larger studying area will get new furnishings and a carpet to improve the functionality and comfort of its premises.

The Library apologizes for the inconvenience caused by the renovation.
