Master’s programme in Cross-Border International Relations (former CBU) started its 5th seasonal school in Petrozavodsk on Monday 21st May. Eighteen students from Petrozavodsk, St. Petersburg and Tampere take part in the school/FIRST intensive course. Students learn about the past and present of Finnish-Russian relations, about the broader context of these relations as well as about Russia’s foreign policy decision-making. In addition, their research proposals are discussed. The planned research addresses many different questions to do with international studies ranging from foreign policies of Sweden, Lithuania or Russia to questions to do with immigration in Nordic countries.
We also welcomed the students to the spring school in a less formal manner by having dinner in a Georgian restaurant. During the evening we enjoyed songs performed in Arabic, Finnish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Russian and Spanish, which tells about the international nature of our student group.
We have been lucky with the weather so far 🙂
